Rocket League Session Analytics

• 6 minute read • By Gamerpad

Looking for a sharper edge in Rocket League? Think of a Session as a focused run of matches in the same playlist — no breaks, no distractions. If you switch playlists or take a breather, your next set of matches becomes a new session. Long or short, each session frames your most current performance, making it easier to pinpoint what’s working and what needs a tweak.

🤔 Why do we need Session Analytics?

As we learn more about Rocket League analytics it becomes clear to us that when it comes to measuring performance, most Rocket League analytical tools stop at two extremes:

  • A single match: great for dialing in on that one game where you popped off or had a rough run. But it can miss the subtle momentum that builds or slips across multiple matches.
  • Season/Lifetime: perfect for seeing how far you’ve come over a season or your entire career. Yet it may overlook those day-to-day patterns that spark sudden breakthroughs.

We knew something was missing. Enter Session Analytics: the sweet spot that combines the high-detail focus of a single match with the evolving story of your overall play. With sessions, you’ll always have the clearest view of where you stand right now, not just where you’ve been or where you’re headed.

💪 Key Performance Indicators

When you open your session view on Gamerpad or while you are in-game in Rocket League with Rocket League Training Assistant you’ll see straightforward indicators that highlight your current form:

  • Win Rate: your best barometer of success in this session. If you’re running above 50%, it means you’re on a roll — and your team knows it.
  • Good Pass Ratio: a high ratio means you’re linking up with your teammates and setting them up to score. This effectivly rates your ability to work with your team on the field.
  • Goal Shot Ratio: accuracy matters. A strong ratio shows you’re taking clean, decisive shots your teammates can count on to hit the mark.
  • Rank Indicator: top-left, keep an eye on how your rank shifts during the session. If it’s green and climbing, congratulations — you’re raising your ceiling and pushing your limits.
  • Personal Records Indicator: top-right, see how many personal bests you’ve set this session. Every record broken is proof you’re evolving, one match at a time.

💭 What is a Segment in Rocket League?

A segment is one of the many unique insights delivered by Rocket League Training Assistant and it represents a time span during a match in Rocket League, which provides a detailed look into your match performance. We divide the segments of your matches into:

  • Early Game: from 00:00 to 01:00, the first minute of a match is critical. A good opening of the match can set the tone for many players, starting off strong here is a great way to boost team morale.
  • Mid Game: from 01:00 to 04:00, the middle of a match is where things get tough. This is when trends of either mistakes or strengths become obvious to each team.
  • Late Game: from 04:00 to 05:00, the closing of the match. Closing out the match can be hard, this where calm heads prevail.
  • Overtime: from 05:00+ when overtime is reached its all about having an effective defense but also capitalizing on any mistakes the other team makes.

🔋Using Segment Analytics to your advantage

As your session unfolds, you’ll begin to see the patterns that define your team’s performance. Need to identify where to adjust strategy mid-session? Use this deep analysis to pinpoint areas of improvement or spot weaknesses in the opponents playstyle.

  • Team Balance: get a simple meta view of your session, where we we take each segment in every match you played and display them in a high level view. If you stay in the green zone you know that your team is control of the match.
  • Distribution: see how each team distributes the metric between both teams. This is where you can easily get the hard numbers of how the teams are balanced.
  • Contribution: dive deeper into the data and see how each member of that team contributes to a specific metric in the course of a session.
  • Metric Spread: now with all that in mind, if you want to go even further and examine a specific players contribution you can easily find them and see how their impact evolved over the course of the segments. Try to stay above your opponents in each segment here.
